Third Free software and GNU/Linux conference

The OSL organize you for days 30 of november and 1 and 2 of december 2011 The Third Free software and GNU/Linux conference for beginner users. These aim to give in the conference a general approach to free software, we focus especially GNU/Linux systems (instalation, configuration y manage) and free software and multiplataform applications. Technical Workshops on Free Software

2011-11-11

From November 21th to November 25th the OSL is going to held the Workshops on Free Software.

With this conference the OSL pretend to educate the attendees on a number of free software tools very present today, offering specialized training for each of them at the same time improve the knowledge and use of free software. The tools that will be used to work on these days will be Python, Django, Android, GStreamer, LXC, Erlang, Haskell, Asterisk and LaTeX. The workshops are Free and there are 15 seats.

Workshops on Company and Free Software

In the mornings of the coming 8th and 9th of november , the OSL organizes the Workshops on Company and Free Software in collaboration with Agasol, Igalia, Corunet, Icarto, Imatia, Quobis,Tagen Ata Redegal. With this workshops we hope to show to the future Galician professionals that the free software is a quality for betting when face a business project. In this event each participating company will briefly explain how it uses free software, will give an overview of the projects involved and will explain why it decided to bet for free software. The workshops are Free and there are 50 seats.

Courses open to the general public

2011-09-27

The Free Software Office of the UDC organizes three courses open to the general public of 10 hours long each. Again, the OSL is leaving the university environment to show to society the possibilities of free software and free knowledge. These courses will consist in an overview of the different applications as well as an explanation of how to get them and install them. The courses will consist in an overview of the daily exercises to to ease the learning of the application.

Free Software Office

The main goal of the Free Software Office (OSL) of the University of A Coruña (UDC) is spread and promote usage of free software at the universitary community, and the society in general. We also promote the aggregation and coordination of joint efforts of the universities, institutions and companies in order to develop the strategic plan of free software in the UDC and the universitary community.

Free Software Philosophy

Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. More precisely, it refers to four kinds of freedom, for the users of the software: Free Software is the one which follows the four liberties.
