Temporary stop of functions and activities of the OSL

We regret to report that since January 11th this Free Software Office of the UDC will no longer provide the services carried out in the past 16 months. From OSL's staff, we appreciate all the support both from institutions and people.
We hope this temporary stop will be as short as possible and that we will be available to the society - and especially the university community - as soon as possible.
Before saying goodbye and to summarize, we recall some activities of the OSL in the past 16 months (more in section events): 28 courses, 10 workshops, 5 lectures/conferences, present in 12 external activities, more than 3000 emails answered, over 2000 visits - more than 150 facilities and technical configurations - at the OSL Mobile, over 50 documents released ( manuals, handbooks and reports), more than 200 direct technical advice in the office of CITIC...
We say goodbye looking forward to be in back soon and wishing a happy 2010 to all the free software community.

The Free Software Office of the UDC reported that the galician version of the third chapter of the comic Ubunchu is now available.
Course on the legal aspects of open source software

The OSL in collaboration with CENATIC prepared for 2 and 3 of December 2009 the [Course on legal aspects of open source software. The course aims to present and discuss, briefly and with a generalist approach, the main legal aspects of Open Source Software. This is an informative course. At the end of the course will give attendees a guide to the right and open source software made by CENATIC. The course is intended for all members of the UDC (PDI, PAS, students, etc). Free software and GNU/Linux conference

The OSL prepares you for days 1, 2 and 3 of december 2009 The Xornadas Free software and GNU/Linux conference. These aim to give in the conference a xeral approach to free software, we focus especially GNU / Linux systems. They are intended to or xeral public. Free Software Office
The main goal of the Free Software Office (OSL) of the University of A Coruña (UDC) is spread and promote usage of free software at the universitary community, and the society in general. We also promote the aggregation and coordination of joint efforts of the universities, institutions and companies in order to develop the strategic plan of free software in the UDC and the universitary community.
Free Software Philosophy
Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. More precisely, it refers to four kinds of freedom, for the users of the software: Free Software is the one which follows the four liberties.
