Mobile Free Software Office
The Free Software Office (OSL) of the UDC plans to go most of the centers of the University of A Coruña with the Mobile Office of the OSL (OSLM). This office will consist of an interactive stand with different hardware and some of the tecnicians of the OSL will be there too.
The Mobile Office has the goal to bring free software to members of the UDC showing their capabilities, advantages and possibilities. Free software is an ethical way of understanding the software, which promotes equality, collaboration, innovation, safety, efficiency, competitiveness, solidarity, and above all, freedom.
The Mobile Office is an extension of the OSL itself, with the aim to bring the servizes of the OSL to the end users of the UDC (students, faculty and staff work).
There will be many services available to those who approach the stand, we can highlight:
- Try and live in person PCs with GNU / Linux and a whole list of free applications.
- Advice in person on any matter relating to the Free Software alternatives to proprietary software, installing a free operating system, management of free applications ...
- Demonstrations of technical installation, configuration and use of free tools.
- Help in installing a free operating system GNU / Linux (Ubuntu, Galinux or any other distribution), so that anyone can come with his laptop, and members of the OSL will guide him step by step through the installation and configuration.
The objective of the OSL is to travel the centers of the UDC .
